Kapitel 3

1-5. Et billede på den sidste tid. - Av många är det fjerde buds Sabbat gjort ugyldig, blivit behandlet som en värdilös ting, imedens den falske sabbat, pavedömmets barn, är upphögont. I stedet for Guds lov, är syndens människors lov blivit upphögont, -love der vilt bliva vedtaget och aktet som Nebukadnezzars vidunderlige gyldne billedstötte blev det av Babylonerne. Vid att uppstille denna stora billedstötte, bebudede Nebukadnezzar att den skulle modtage universal hyldest från alla, både stor och lille, höj och lav, rig och fattig. (MS 24, 1891).

1-5. A Last Day Image—By many, the Sabbath of the fourth commandment is made void, being treated as a thing of naught; while the spurious sabbath, the child of the papacy, is exalted. In the place of God’s laws, are elevated the laws of the man of sin,—laws that are to be received and regarded as the wonderful golden image of Nebuchadnezzar was by the Babylonians. Forming this great image, Nebuchadnezzar commanded that it should receive universal homage from all, both great and small, high and low, rich and poor (Manuscript 24, 1891).{4BC 1169.5}

(1169)   19. Da kongen så att hans vilje icke blev antaget som Guds vilje, blev honom "opfyldt av harme,” (Dan.3,19) och hans ansigts uttryks form blev forandret emot dessa mänd. Sataniske egenskaper fik hans ansigt till att framstå som en dämons ansigt och med al den styrke honom kunde uppbyde, beordrede honom att ovnen skulle göres syv gånge hedere än normalt och beordrede de kraftigste mänd till att bine de unge mänd och kaste dem i ovnen. Honom fölte att det krävede mera än alminelig makt att hava med dessa noble mänd att göre. Hans forstand blev stärkt präget av, att något usädvanligt ville lägge sig imellem till deres bedste och hans stärkeste mänd blev beordret till att tage sig av dem. (ST 6. Maj, 1897).

19. Something Unusual Anticipated—When the king saw that his will was not received as the will of God, he was “full of fury,” and the form of his visage was changed against these men. Satanic attributes made his countenance appear as the countenance of a demon; and with all the force he could command, he ordered that the furnace be heated seven times hotter than its wont, and commanded the most mighty men to bind the youth, and cast them into the furnace. He felt that it required more than ordinary power to deal with these noble men. His mind was strongly impressed that something unusual would interpose in their behalf, and his strongest men were ordered to deal with them (The Signs of the Times, May 6, 1897).{4BC 1169.6}

(1169)   25. Kristus uppenbaret av fanger. - Hvordan vidste Nebukadnezzar att de fires skikkelse var liksom Guds Söns? Honom havde hört om Guds Sön från de Hebraiske fanger som var i hans kongerike. De havde brakt den levände Guds kundskap, Honom som regerede (regerer) alla ting. (RH 3. maj, 1892).

25. Christ Revealed by Captives—How did Nebuchadnezzar know that the form of the fourth was like the Son of God? He had heard of the Son of God from the Hebrew captives that were in his kingdom. They had brought the knowledge of the living God who ruleth all things (The Review and Herald, May 3, 1892).{4BC 1169.7}

De som var forenede forstod tron. - Dessa trofaste Hebräere var besat av stora naturlige evner och intellektuel dannelse och de besad en höj äresposssition, men alla dessa fortrin forledte dem icke till att glemme Gud. Alla deres kräfter blev ydet till den guddommelige nådes hellig görände inflydelse. Vid deres gudfrygtige exempel, deres urokkelige ärlighed, de framviste lovprisninger for Honom som havde kaldt dem ut av mörket, in i Hans vidunderlige ljus. I deres vidunderlige utfrielse blev framvist, foran den umådelige forsamling, Guds makt och majestät. Jesus placerede sig själva vid deres side i den gloände ovn och vid Hans herlighed blev den stol te konge av Babylon överbevist om, att det icke kunde vara någon anden än Guds Sön. Himmelens ljus havde skinnet fram från Daniel och hans venner, intil alla deres forenede forstod tron, som der forädlede deres liv och forskönnede deres karakterer. (RH 1.febr., 1881).

28. Associates Understood Faith—These faithful Hebrews possessed great natural ability and intellectual culture, and they occupied a high position of honor; but all these advantages did not lead them to forget God. All their powers were yielded to the sanctifying influence of divine grace. By their godly example, their steadfast integrity, they showed forth the praises of Him who had called them out of darkness into His marvelous light. In their wonderful deliverance was displayed, before that vast assembly, the power and majesty of God. Jesus placed Himself by their side in the fiery furnace, and by the glory of His presence convinced the proud king of Babylon that it could be no other than the Son of God. The light of heaven had been shining forth from Daniel and his companions, until all their associates understood the faith which ennobled their lives and beautified their characters (The Review and Herald, February 1, 1881).{4BC 1170.1}

17. Skäbnens mänd vogtede med årvågenhed. - Den almägtige GUD HERRE regerede. Alla Konger, alla nationer är Hans, under Hans styre och ledelse. Hans ressourcer är uändelig små. De kloge mänd erklärede, "En Konges hjärta är bäkke i HERRENS hånd, Honom leder det hen, var Honom vilt." (Ordsp.21,1)

17. Men of Destiny Watched With Vigilance—The Lord God omnipotent reigneth. All kings, all nations, are His, under His rule and government. His resources are infinite. The wise man declares, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”{4BC 1170.2}

(1170)  Dessa, på vem nationerne hang handlingernes skäbne, är bevogtet med en årvågenhed, som icke känder till formeldelse av Honom som "giver Konger segar," (Sl.144,10) till vem som tilhörer "Jordens skjolde." (RH 28. Marts, 1907).

Those upon whose actions hang the destinies of nations, are watched over with a vigilance that knows no relaxation by Him who “giveth salvation unto kings,” to whom belong “the shields of the earth” (The Review and Herald, March 28, 1907).{4BC 1170.3}

(1170)   33. Någon är i dag liksom Nebukadnezzar. - Vi lever i denna j ords histories sidste dage och vi måste icke bliva överrasket, av något frafald och sanningen från Daniel. Vantro är nu blivit en prägtig kunst, som människor arbetar på till destruktion av deres själe. Der är en konstant fare for, att deres väsen skal efterligne prästerne från talerstolen, i fall liv modsiger det Ord de taler. Men formaningens advarände stemme vilt bliva hört så länge tiden vilt vara och dem som är skyldige i transaktioner, som de aldrig skulle vara begyndt på, når irettesättelse eller råd igennem HERRENS utnävntes virksomhed, vilt modsätte sig budskapet och nägte att bliva omvendt. De vilt gå videre som Farao och Nebukadnezzar gjorde, intil HERREN tog deres fornuft väk och dereshärtan blev umodtagelige. HERRENS Ord vilt komma till dem, men i fall de välger icke att höre det, vilt HERREN göre dem ansvarlige for deres egen ödeläggelse. (NL No. 31, p. 1).

33. Some Today Like Nebuchadnezzar—We are living in the last days of this earth’s history, and we may be surprised at nothing in the line of apostasies and denials of the truth. Unbelief has now come to be a fine art, which men work at to the destruction of their souls. There is constant danger of there being shams in pulpit preachers, whose lives contradict the words they speak; but the voice of warning and of admonition will be heard as long as time shall last; and those who are guilty of transactions that should never be entered into, when reproved or counseled through the Lord’s appointed agencies, will resist the message and refuse to be corrected. They will go on as did Pharaoh, and Nebuchadnezzar, until the Lord takes away their reason, and their hearts become unimpressible. The Lord’s Word will come to them; but if they choose not to hear it, the Lord will make them responsible for their own ruin (NL No. 31, p. 1).{4BC 1170.4}

(1170)   37. Nebukadnezzar blev fullständigt omvendt. - I Daniels liv var önsket om att herliggöre Gud det stärkeste av alla motiver. Honom inså, att i fall honom står i närvärelse av människors inflydelse, ville honom aftage med att vedkände sig Gud som kelden till hans visdom och den ville hava gjort honom till en upålidelig hovmester. Och hans konstante erkändelse av himmelens Gud fram for konger, prinser och statsmänd, forringede icke en töddel från hans inflydelse. Kong Nebukadnezzar, överfor vem Daniel så tit ärede Guds navn, blev till sidst fullständigt omvendt och lärte att "Love, upphögon och ära himmelens Konge." (Dan.4,37a) (RH Jan. 11, 1906).

37. Nebuchadnezzar Thoroughly Converted—In Daniel’s life, the desire to glorify God was the most powerful of all motives. He realized that when standing in the presence of men of influence, a failure to acknowledge God as the source of his wisdom would have made him an unfaithful steward. And his constant recognition of the God of heaven before kings, princes, and statesmen, detracted not one iota from his influence. King Nebuchadnezzar, before whom Daniel so often honored the name of God, was finally thoroughly converted, and learned to “praise and extol and honour the King of heaven” (The Review and Herald, January 11, 1906).{4BC 1170.5}

(1170)  Et varmt och veltalände vittnesbörd. - Kongen på Babylons trone blivit vidne for Gud, gav hans vittnesbörd, varmt och väl talände, från et taknemmeligt hjärta der tog del i barmhjertighed och nåde, retfärdigheden och freden, från den guddommelige natur. (YI 13. dec., 1904).

A Warm and Eloquent Testimony—The king upon the Babylonian throne became a witness for God, giving his testimony, warm and eloquent, from a grateful heart that was partaking of the mercy and grace, the righteousness and peace, of the divine nature (The Youth’s Instructor, December 13, 1904).{4BC 1170.6}
