  • The application is evaluated based on the Score Card System developed for the purpose.

  • Accomplishments / achievements, based on the documented evidences, are allotted marks. Information without evidence shall not be considered.




9.

Research Accomplishments

  • List the publications with full citations (full name of the Journal should be given while listing) in reputed high impact journal- international /national;

  • Total number of listed publications should not exceed 20 including national and international publications.

  • Research publications of the nominee shall be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Impact factor (NAAS Rating / Thomson Reuters); seniority of authorship; in case of multiple authors, first two authors will get full marks; rest of the authors will get half of the marks allotted.

  • Copy of the first page of all publications listed should be enclosed (which will show the name of author(s), title, year of publication, journal name, volume etc.)

Educational Accomplishments

a.

  • Each book published shall have the ISBN number with not less than 200 pages published by a reputed publisher.

  • Edited book shall have only half of the marks allotted.

  • Provide Xerox copy of the first page of book showing, author(s), publishers/ ISBN number / pages etc.

b.

  • Each Book chapter appearing in an edited book (with ISBN number with not less than 200 pages published by a reputed publisher) shall also be considered as a publication and marks allotted accordingly.

  • Provide Xerox copy of the first page of the chapter with the first page of edited book in which the chapter appeared.

c.

  • Each Text book and Lab Manuals / teaching modules published for UG/PG students shall have ISBN number with not less than 200 pages published through a reputed publisher.

  • Provide Xerox copy of the first page of book showing, author(s), publishers/ ISBN number / pages etc..

d.

  • Number of Ph.D Students guided- provide the list of theses which are approved / degree awarded by the University.

  • The product developed shall have an impact on the relevant fields of applications.

  • The technologies so developed shall become a sustainable practice by stakeholders- IPM /INM strategies/ animal improvement, innovative extension practices etc., leading to large scale diffusion and adoption.

c.

Number of patents obtained- documentary evidence essential

  • Patents granted with File Number, Patent Number, accession number shall be provided, Trademarks, GI, Germplasm registration, IP protection etc., will also be considered.

Note: Awards / medals received during the study periods are not considered

  • Awards and medals should have been received from well recognized academies/ institutions /organizations / Universities / State and Central Government levels; National level professional societies, Best teacher, researcher or extension worker award, Young Scientist award, D.Sc,

  • Awards of ICAR, CSIR, DST, DBT, ICMR, NABS, NAAS, NAVA, NASI are also eligible.

  • International awards like Humboldt, Fulbright, DAAD Fellowship and awards of DBT Overseas award, INSA award shall have extra marks.

b.

Fellow of National / International Academies

  • Recognition as a Fellow of National /international academies is awarded marks.

c.

Positions held in Scientific Societies

  • Positions held in Scientific Societies / Prestigious committees, task force, office bearers of Professional Societies / Academies; Editor of reputed Journals, etc., shall be considered.

d.

Member in Academic/Scientific fora

  • Life member in reputed academies, societies of national and international repute are considered.

e.

Chairman in scientific sessions in National / International seminar / symposium / conferences

  • Scientists who chaired the technical sessions of a seminar / symposium shall be considered.




f.

Number of National / International Conference / Seminar / Symposium / Conferences attended

  • Scientists should have attended and presented papers in International Conference / Seminar / Symposium organized by established Institutions / Academies / Societies.

g.

Number of special trainings or PDF programmes undergone

  • Scientist who has undergone Post Doc programmes.

  • Scientist who has undergone special trainings, other than for higher studies for a period of not less than three months shall be considered.

h.

Foreign countries visited

  • Scientist who have visited as a Visiting Scientist / Professor; Trainer / Sabbaticals / Special discussion meeting / consultancy services shall alone be considered.

  • Providing leadership in taking forward the research activities of his discipline, organizing summer /winter schools, organizing special skill trainings to teachers, students /organizing Seminars / symposia / Conferences shall be considered.

  • Instrumental in curriculum development for UG / PG /Ph.D courses, innovative teaching methods developed / examination reforms introduced / motivating students to participate in extracurricular activities, national level competitive exams; student counsellors / wardens etc. shall be considered.

Institutional building / Developmental activities

  • Scientist who was Instrumental in developing new lab /infrastructure facilities at his/ her institution through external funding, interdisciplinary participation and developing team work, establishing new Institution etc. shall be considered.

  • Scientist who has organized college level / school level exhibition / interactive workshop to promote and create awareness on Science and its impact on day to day life; organized / conducted quiz programmes on Science for students shall be considered.

II. General Guidelines to Applicants




1.

Submission of applications at the Secretariat of NABS

a.

Duly filled application along with a soft copy shall be sent by Speed Post / Registered Post / Courier / in person so as to reach the Secretary not later than 5.00pm of 31st December, 2016.

Eligibility

All life members of NABS who have completed 30 years as on 1st December, 2016 and have completed a *cooling period of SIX months are eligible. [*From the date of your enrollment as Life member, SIX months should have been completed as on 1st December, 2016].

Note: Provisional Life Members are not eligible.


3.

Registration and Processing Fee [R & PF] [Non-refundable] [only online transfer]

Nominee shall enclose evidence for having transferred the R& PF fee of Rs. 3000/- (Rupees Three thousands only) online to the account of National Academy of Biological Sciences, Chennai

4.

Role of Forwarding Authority

a.

Who can forward the Application?

Institution Heads / Department Heads as per the existing procedures of the Institution where the applicant works.



b.

The forwarding authority should restrict his / her observations / remarks only to the scientific / academic credentials of the applicant.

5.

When the application will not be considered?

a.

Without the remarks and signature of forwarding authority.

b.

Not received before the last date prescribed.

c.

Without the Registration and Processing Fee.

6.

Validity of application

a.

Duly filled application remains valid for TWO consecutive years [n+2] unless withdrawn.

b.

Every year the application shall be updated by the candidate; if not the marks scored earlier will alone be considered for evaluation.

7.

Miscellaneous information

a.

Computing the age: Mention the completed years as on 1st DECEMBER, 2016.

b.

PP size photos: one to be affixed on the application form in the space provided; the second one to be placed in a separate cover with your name written on the back of the photo.
