Heavy Metal Pollutıon In Dılovası Organızed Industıal Zone (Gebze-Kocaelı) And Effects On Plants
In our study, we aimed to detect the heavy metal pollution and the applicability of phytoremediation and /or ecorestoration in Dilovasi Organized Industrial Zone. Plant and soil samples were collected from the four different identified stations in spring and autumn seasons. Cd, Pb, Cu, Ni and Cr concentrations were detected in the collected samples. In addition, chlorophyll and proline contents of the plant leaves and also enrichment factors (EF) of the soils were determined.

Accumulation of Cr and Ni elements in the soil samples of site 4 and sites 1 and 3 was observed in phytotoxic levels, respectively. According to the EF results we have found that the pollution of these sites has anthropogenic origin.

Among the plant samples, Ficus carica L., Robinia pseudoacacia L. and Rubus canescens DC. Species have accumulated phytotoxic levels of Ni and Cr. In accordance with the data obtained, these plants may be thought as tolerant and biomonitor species and can be used in the ecorestoration of the contaminated sites.
