The Synthesıs Of Tetrakıs-, Trıs- And Bıs-Thıosubstıtute Quınones From Reactıons Of P-Chloranıl Wıth S-Nucleophıles
In the first step of this study, reactions of various aliphatic and aromatic thiol compounds with p-chloranil (1) as a starting compound in basic medium, were investigated.
p-Chloranil (1) was reacted with n-propanthiol, ethanethiol, 4-tert-butyl thiophenol, 4-chlorobenzyl mercaptan and new 2-chloro-3,5,6-tripropylthio-1,4-benzoquinone (2), known 2,3:5,6-tetrapropylthio-1,4-benzoquinone (3), known 2-ethoxy-3,5,6-tripropylthio-1,4-benzoquinone (4), new 2,5-diethoxy-3,6-bispropylthio-1,4-benzoquinone (5), new 2-chloro-3,5,6-trietylthio-1,4-benzoquinone (6), new 2,3:5,6-tetra(4-tert-butyl thiophenol)-1,4-benzoquinone (7), new 2,6-bis(4-chlorobenzylthio)-3,5-diethoxy-1,4-benzoquinone (8), new 2,3:5,6-tetra(4-chlorobenzylthio)-1,4-benzoquinone (9) compounds were synthesized.
In the second step of this study, reactions of various aromatic thiol compounds with 2-chloro-3,5,6-tripropylthio-1,4-benzoquinone (2) as a starting compound in basic medium, were investigated.
2-Chloro-3,5,6-tripropylthio-1,4-benzoquinone (2) was reacted with 4-tert-butyl thiophenol, 4-chlorobenzyl mercaptan and new 2-(4-tert-butylphenilthio)-3,5,6-tripropylthio-1,4-benzoquinone (10), new 2-(4-chlorobenzylthio)-3,5,6-tripropylthio-1,4-benzoquinone (11) compounds were synthesized.
The products were purified by chromatographic methods.The structures of compounds were determined by micro analysis and spectroscopic methods (IR, UV, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, MS).
