9. R&D ACTIVITIES
The R&D cell has been actively involved in promoting research among the faculty members. It is working closely with the student innovation club to identify and engage in novel projects that benefit society at large.
Science Academies’ Summer Research Fellowships – 2013 & 2014

Summer Research fellowships 2013, sponsored by the 3 National Science academies

   The National Academy of Sciences India (NASI), Allahabad,
   

offers 2 months summer fellowship to enable the students and teachers to work with scientist associated with these three academies.

As like previous years, our faculty members Prof. S. Saraswathi, Prof. J. Emmanual Robin and Prof. P. Anitha were selected and worked as SRF along with a scientist Prof. T. V. Prabhakar, Prof. Prasanth Kumar Ghosh, and Prof. Balakrishnan respectively in the month of April – May, 2013, at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.

In this academic year our faculty member Prof. P. Sathish Raja from CSE department is selected and sponsored Rs. 20,000/- to work in a project as SRF along with a scientist Prof. Balakrishnan at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore for 60 days from April – May, 2014.
Sponsorship Received for Organizing Technical Programmes
In this Academic year, 22, 88, 000 /- has been received from DST for organizing Science Camp and to do Research.

The details are

• 
  Dr. S. A. Sahaaya Arul Mary of CSE has received 9, 58, 000/- from DST for organizing Science Camp for XI Standard Students who scored well in X Standard.
  
• 
  Dr. P. Vankatachalam of Mechanical has received 13, 30, 000/- from DST for the project “Development And Characterization Of High Strength Al Alloys Through Consolidation Of Machined Chips By Equal Channel Angular Pressing”
  

Various project proposals worth 9, 00, 00, 000/- (Nine Crores) were submitted to funding agencies like AICTE, DST, DIT, DRDO, DOTE, CSIR, TNSCST &SCRC-DST.
