9. R&D ACTIVITIES
The R&D cell has been actively involved in promoting research among the faculty members. It is working closely with the student innovation club to identify and engage in novel projects that benefit society at large.

Science Academies’ Summer Research Fellowships – 2015- 2016

Summer Research fellowships 2015, sponsored by the 3 National Science academies

1. 
   Indian Academy of Science (IASc), Bangalore,

   Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi,
   
3. 
   The National Academy of Sciences India (NASI), Allahabad,
   

offers 2 months summer fellowship to enable the students and teachers to work with scientist associated with these three academies.

As like previous years, our faculty members were selected to work as SRF in the month of April – May, 2015.

1. 
   Prof. R. Karthik from CSE was selected to work as SRF along with a scientist Dr. M. Sandip Kumar Vaniya at Central Salts & Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Bhavnagar, Gujarat.
   
2. 
   Prof. A. Reeta Sweetlin from CSE was selected to work as SRF along with a scientist Prof. Kamakotti at IIT, Madras.
   
3. 
   Prof. S. Saranya from CSE was selected and to work as SRF along with a scientist Prof. Mita at CSIR, Jamshedpur.
   

Sponsorship Received for Organizing Technical Programmes

In this Academic year, 10, 00, 000 /- has been received from Google for upgrading college infrastructure.

Proposal Submitted

The following proposals were sent to AICTE for grant of sponsorship

  Dr. S. A. Sahaaya Arul Mary of CSE have applied for a two week Faculty Development Program on “Socio Business Intelligence using Big Data” with a grant of 7, 00, 000 /-

  Dr. P Ramachandran of EEE have applied for a Faculty Development Program on “Increasing industry knowledge in academia” with a grant of 7, 00, 000 /-
  
• 
  Dr. P Venkatachalam of MECH have applied for a Faculty Development Program on “Increasing industry knowledge in academia” with a grant of 7, 00, 000 /-
  

The following proposals were sent to IIPC for grant of sponsorship

  Dr. S. A. Sahaaya Arul Mary of CSE have applied for establishing INDUSTRY INSTITUTE PARTNERSHIP CELL (IIPC) with a grant of 15, 00, 000 /-
  

The following proposals were sent to RPS for grant of sponsorship

• 
  Dr. N. Kannan, Principal, JCET have applied for a Research Proposal Scheme in “Bridging between Education and deployment skills through big data analytics” with a grant 25, 00, 000 /-
  
• 
  Dr. P Ramachandran of EEE have applied for a Research Proposal Scheme in “Developing smart Piezo-electric pressure sensors” with a grant 25, 00, 000 /-
  
• 
  Dr. P Venkatachalam of MECH have applied for a Research Proposal Scheme in “Carbon Fiber Reinforcement Polymers (CFRP) for competitive 2-wheelers” with a grant 25, 00, 000 /-
  

Various project proposals worth 1, 11, 00, 000/- (One Crore Eleven Lakhs) were submitted to funding agencies like AICTE, DST, RPS, IIPC, DIT, DRDO, DOTE, CSIR, TNSCST &SCRC-DST.

Consultancy works

In this academic year totally 2 consultancy works have been proposed for Automated Vehicle registration system and Mobile Automation System through SMS Student Result done by the department CSE for the various companies.
