Pak forces expand the attack area, shelling these villages with artilletry, using 2 helicopter gunships firing guns. Pak authorities announce with media-in-mind, with great fanfare that they have surrounded a “high value target” probably Ayman Al-Zawahri. 12 US intelligence officers are with Pak troops. Fierce fighting takes place with ~400 militants. On same day, Taliban’s Abdul Samed told AP that both OBL and Zawahri left the area in January for a much safer place.

A US airstrike on Friday night (with A-10s and a B-1B) kills 6-7 civilians – 3 women, 4 men – and injure 7 others. No doubt in retaliation for attack which killed 2 US soldiers of the 10th Mtn.. Further US airstrikes kill “3 more suspected militants.” Bagram’s Hilferty rejects (no surprise) details provided by HIS Afghan allies.
