A US patrol is attacked at 3 AM and calls-in B-52s. A 3-hr battle erupts in which according to the Bagram propaganda center "4 people" are killed. US Special Forces then arrest 2 innocent traders who had gone to sell dried fruit in Pakistan.

Hand grenade

At night Taliban attackers hurl hand grenade into room where Afghan troops slept. 6 injured. In May 2003, a powerful explosion had ripped through the governor's house and on March 29th Taliban killed a US Special Forces soldier and a US airman here.

A pre-dawn raid nets 'two suspected Al Qaeda' operatives - a Moroccan, Adil Al-Jazeeri, and a Saudi Abu Naseem. Al-Jazeeri had fled Afghanistan after Taliban collapse. The day before (the 17th) 3 Afghans had been arrested in Lahore. The 5 were "being interrogated" by Pakistan "with int'l assistance."

A bomb set off at midnight next to US PRT bldg. In downtown Kunduz. The US house then was hit by a mortar round and small arms fire on Saturday night. US forces fired back. 4 persons arrested/abducted. US troops also fired on a passing car injuring the driver. The Kunduz PRT office had opened in April 2003.
