~12 US Special Forces and US Marines (3rd Batt., 6th Marine Reg.) are at this firebase in the farming valley of Pesch. The base is similar to those of Green Berets in Vietnam’s Central Highlands. Camp was so-named after death from an IED of Sgt. Jay Blessing, a Ranger, on November 14, 2003.

Late Sat., 4 Afghan police guards killed in a US airstrike, another 2 injured. One more friendly fire incident. The incident began when US Special Forces were fired upon by police guarding a school. The firefight destroyed the fotreign0-funded school. Predictably, the US Bagram propaganda center said 4 “militants” were killed.

Some 2,700 US Marines (from 22nd Marine Exped. Unit – MEU) have moved into area occupying a base a few kms from capital city, Tirin Kot in an operation called “Taskforce Linebacker” (note: the football language….where are the cheerleaders?). Linebacker was name of a 1972 US bombing campaign in Vietnam.
