CHUI #3

Mae Han no Mei; Soko to ato Han Dai no I Sei Katasho
Before and after the Han era two famous medical Doctors are who were noted on the scene Doctor Soko and Doctor Katasho. These two were famous for developing and practicing various medical sciences and techniques.
Many methods of healing that were being utilized during this era especially the ones that saved lives. The above is important to research especially from a modern standpoint.
Two areas of interest to look and research are the

Kihaku and the Yufu. These were important areas pointed out by the Chinese Emperor Huang Ti. Two other Dr.'s mentioned from the Manchu era were Henshaku and Shinka. There was much sickness during this era which hid under many guises these two Dr.'s helped the government and finally took a stand and opened medical science as an art to be practiced to save the Chinese people.

One of the first Dr.'s mentioned in this article was Soko who was very famous for his accurate medical diagnoses.
Many volumes and articles were written chronicling his efforts in the medical science field. There were other Dr.'s out there who not as ethical and were branded as evil. This made it bad for the legitimate Dr.'s who were out there trying to do well. Dr. Soko's name has been recorded in the ancient records as being a legitimate Doctor to the government of China.
These historical accounts tell of his rank of office, and the many wondrous cures he developed. The art of medicine in China was said to have started with him. Emperor Huang Ti knew of this mans work in to arcane arts which he developed Boshin (Med Evals) and Myaku Shin (Blood Evals). Dr. Soko taught many people in his time. He also taught many forms of the art of the Sennin.

Dr. Soko at the time had diagrams or genealogies of the military emperor's but these diagrams were confiscated because of national security reasons. However, Soko San's daughter had a second personnel list of these emperors's along with their road to peace plan. The 2 Id list was on Confucian and Manchu concepts. Unfortunately this 2nd list was lost and never recovered.

During this period if the list were available it would give historian’s insight into how and why these emperor's operated or did business. There is a need to research other data as well to gain this insight. There was also included in this list were several Dr.'s with examples of their accomplishments. There were 25 examples 6 were concerning women and 2 concerning children. These examples covered a wide range of diseases involving the human digestive tract.
There were also examples of diseases for people e.g., (men) who indulged excessively in alcohol and or personal contact diseases. In ancient times there was reason to believe that there were a variety of diseases out there that people contracted e.g.1 stress, and varieties of psychological disorders, which were often work related. Often there was no cure. Therapeutics was almost unheard of.
Most time the Dr.'s advised their patients to let their ills alone they will pass through the system on their own but sometimes though they used a cathartic form of treatment, which was used quite frequently. The medical sphere of influence was expanding quite rapidly during this era especially in the Yellow River area.
Many types of experimental medical therapy treatments were being worked on during this time also. Dr. Soko practiced medicine until after the Han era. From his early years he was very talented in school and higher level training all the way into adulthood.

After that he applied for and was accepted into government service. He had an impressive list of credentials to his name in the medical field.

After the Han era in a remote village area in the Province of Anki or Anhwei there was according to legend a Dr. who was working on variety of new surgical techniques. He was also working on a crude form of anesthesia utilizing a combination of hemp (cannabis) and sake for stomach and brain surgery. It was also recorded that there were many diseases that were recorded with no cures.
Some Dr.'s recommended people involve themselves in other therapeutic cures like studying and practicing the (5) animal styles, gymnastics, and Chinese Herb Art. It was shown that when someone sickly practiced the (5) animal style ways Tiger, Stag, Bear, Monkey, and the Horse in conjunction with gymnastics and medicine they were shown to have extended their life by many years. It was also shown that they seemed to rejuvenate themselves over a period of time. Now for a person who starts out as a child in this form of treatment will have eternal perennial youth and longevity way past age 90.
In recent years there have been several people who have made this self-sacrifice toward this study and have restored their youth and are still healthy as the day they were born. When one is young there is much pain and thought into following such a path. But in order to plan for the future one must take the proper path in order to lead an impeccable life that will lead toward extended longevity.
There was a legend aside from this article about a famous general from Wei Province his name was So So or General Tsao Tsao. This had been plagued with headaches from an early age. They were especially bad in his late years especially when he rode his horse. Another famous Dr. Kwado was summoned to help Tsao Tsao. Kwada began to administer the needle techniques, which gradually helped the general. Tsao Tsao was also forbidden from riding until such time as he was cured. After this treatment the general offered Kwado a job in government service but he refused. He had to many other patients including his wife and child. He also told the general that his pain would not be completely eradicated but pain made one stronger and eventually his pain would dissipate.

The general thought his pain would cease and that he would be able to ride again as generals need to do in order to lead an army. This unfortunately did not set well with the general. So he wanted Kwada to consult with and teach others about this technique. Kwada thought about this and felt that if he did not do as requested he might be cast into prison. Kwado did refuse and was put into prison because he did not teach and his treatment did not help the general. After that the general’s pain got worse and was faced with possible death. He then feeling guilty wrote down one volume of the techniques he learned from Kwado. The general lived with his grief for the rest of life and Kwado's art eventually became extinct. A shrine was erected though in his honor and the spirits still watch over Kwado.
