Heberley and Habberley family members lived here in the 1800s and some migrated to New Zealand (and USA?). Johannes Heberle, wife Catharina Hengst and 4 children lived in Thurleigh and Holcot, Bedford 1708-22. Other Heberles have lived in UK temporarily. Ronald Leslie Heberle (CZ branch) of Perth Australia was with the Royal Australian Air Force in England 1944-45. Gerald Clarence Heberle (Hoerdt branch) of Dayton USA did his PhD in London c1955-58. Linda Kay Heberle (Ettenheim branch) of Texas USA was in London c1972. Mark Allen Heberle (Albersweiler branch) of Hawaii USA was a visiting lecturer in Gloucestershire c1994. Viviane Maria Heberle (Berus branch) of Brazil was a visiting scholar in Birmingham c2000. Fiona Gail Heberle (CZ branch) from Australia and John Harold Heberle (Ettenheim branch) from Texas USA and other Heberle have also lived in United Kingdom.


Cambridge

Dr Albert Peter Heberle was at Cambridge University during 1996-2003. He worked at Hitachi Cambridge Laboratory. He has wide experience in time resolved spectroscopy, concentrating recently on coherent carrier control on semi-conductors and metals.

Patricia Robin (Trish) Heberle (Clausthal-Zellerfeld branch) from Perth Australia was the England womens hockey coach 2001-04. During that period, the team won the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games. In 2002, she was named England Coach of the Year at an awards ceremony in Manchester. She was praised for the manner in which England conducted themselves after India snatched victory with a controversial golden goal in extra time during the Commonwealth final. She resigned after >3 years in charge, following Great Britain's failure to qualify for the Olympic Games in Athens. A World Cup winner with Australia's Hockeyroos, she has been credited with improving England's fortunes since taking over in 2001. She helped lift the side into the world's top five.

Robert P Heberle d in Bristol in 2001, he was 59. Born in Bristol and lived in the city all his life. Employed at County Roofing for 6 years and then the New Departure-Hyatt Division of General Motors for 28 years before retiring in 1994. Survived by his wife, Esther Hussey Heberle; 2 daughters, Rebecca L. Heberle of Bristol and Donna Schultz of Terryville and a brother, Edward Heberle of Bristol.

Bruce Heberle lived in Granger.

William Heberle/Hepley b 1845 in Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany. He d 1922 in Indiana. Migrated to USA 1854. During passage, cholera broke out on the ship and many died including his parents. Volunteered at age 14 for Union army and fought in 17 battles before being mustered out at age 17 in 1864. Captured his brother Charles Heberle and turned him in for a bounty. Married Mary Greenwood 1866 in Indiana. She d 1901. Had 5 children. William also m Laura Handy 1912. Surname changed from Heberle to Hepley c1854.

Ernest Otto Heberle, 81, of LaVale d 1999. Born Cumberland in 1917, he was a son of Herman and Amanda Shultz Heberle. His wife, Janice Bittner Heberle, d 1997. He was a retired Brakeman on the B&O Railroad and was a veteran of World War II in the US Army Air Corps.

Charles Tracy Heberle (Oshkosh branch), b 1862 d c1931, son of Jakob Heberle of Oshkosh WI, was sold into servitude in Essex MA, c1880. He later worked on tugboats, purchased one, sold it in 1903 to buy Gloucester Coal Company. He built the steam powered "Eveleth". He purchased a lumber and building material business in Gloucester MA, which has continued in the Heberle family. The business was operated by his son Charles Tracy II and grandson Charles Tracy III.


Charles Tracy Heberle II of Annisquam d 1993. He was 82. A lifelong Gloucester resident, he graduated from Gloucester High School in 1928. He attended Boston University for 2 years before joining his family's business, Gloucester Coal and Lumber Co. He handled public relations and advertising for the Building Centre of Cape Ann for many years. Involved in Lumberman's organisations. Former president, treasurer and director of Annisquam Association Inc.; director of the YMCA; honorary trustee of Addison Gilbert Hospital; former president of Rotary Club of Gloucester; director of Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce; former director of Cape Ann Bank and Trust Co. Served in the US Air Force during World War II. Had 3 daughters, Nancy Grayson of Delray Beach FL, Harriett Van Wart of Scituate and Peggy Huff of McLean VA and a son, Colonel Charles Tracy III of Tacoma WA.

Charles Tracy II had an adopted brother, Clement King Heberle, who was an osteopathic surgeon in Daytona Beach FL, until he retired.


Charles Tracy III served in Vietnam, retired from the army and is now involved in training as well as the family business. In 1998 he lived in Salem MA. His son, Charles Tracy IV, was with the US navy in San Diego CA but resigned in c1997. Daughter Laura worked in Tacoma Community College in Tacoma WA.

Margaret (Peggy) Heberle, sister of Charles. She graduated in 1966 from Green Mountain College in Poultney VT.


Nancy Heberle Grayson of West Palm Beach, formerly of Delray Beach FL and Westport CT, b 1935 Gloucester MA, d 2005. She graduated from Gloucester High School and attended Ratcliffe College. Wife of the late Arthur Grayson, mother of Peter Mollo and the late Heberle Jane Mollo. Sister of Harriet Van Wart of Scituate MA, Charles Tracy Heberle III of Tacoma, WA and Margaret (Peggy) Huff of McLean VA.

Holyoke MA

Frederick T Heberle d 1965 in Holyoke MA. His wife Loretta Poirier b Chicopee in 1909 and d Holyoke in 2000. She attended Holyoke schools and St David D'Yamaska in Quebec Canada. Their son, Reverend Frederick Heberle worked in diocese of Springfield, covering Sheffield MA, Great Barrington and New Marlboro, in 1998.


June T Heberle Gelinas, 69, d 2002. June was b Holyoke to the late Frederick and Loretta Sourdiffe Heberle. She was educated in the Blessed Sacrament and Sacred Heart Schools of Holyoke. She was Head Teller at the former Hampshire National Bank, South Hadley. She was survived by her husband, Bernard Gelinas and brother, Father Frederick Heberle of Holyoke
