Article 4 — GENERAL OBLIGATIONS STATUS IN AUSTRALIA No Legislation to Enact the CRPD -
While Australia has developed a National Disability Strategy that makes commitments to the implementation of its obligations under the CRPD, it has not enacted legislation that comprehensively protects these rights. (See Article 5)
Disability Discrimination Legislation -
The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) (DDA) makes direct and indirect discrimination on the grounds of disability unlawful in relation to employment, education, access to premises, the provision of goods and services, accommodation, membership of clubs, associations, sports and the administration of Australian Federal laws and programs.
