FREIGHT TRAIN
Freight train, freight train going so fast

Freight train, freight train going so fast

Please don't tell what train I'm on

So they won't know where I am gone

When I die Lord, please bury me deep

Way down on old Chestnut Street

So I can hear old number nine

As she comes a-rolling by
Freight train, freight train going so fast

Freight train, freight train going so fast

Please don't tell what train I'm on

So they won't know where I am gone

When I'm dead and in my grave

No more good times here I'll crave

Place the stones at my head and feet

And tell them all that I'm gone to sleep

Freight train, freight train going so fast

Freight train, freight train going so fast

Please don't tell what train I'm on

So they won't know where I am gone

FÜRSTENFELD
Langsam find der Tag sei End und die Nacht beginnt

In der Kärntner Straß'n da singt oaner "Blowing in the wind"

Hot a grianes Reckerl an, steht da ganz verlurn

Und der Steffl der schaut obi auf den oarmen Steirer Buam

Wochenlang steh' i scho do,

Wochenlang plag i mi o

I spui mir die Finger wund

Und so guat "Hier kummt die Sun"

Doch es is zum narrisch wern,

Langsam kriag i wirklich gnua,

I frag mi was i da tua

I wui wieder ham,

I fui mi da so allan

I brauch' ka große Welt,

I wui ham nach Fürstenfeld

In der Zeitung da hams g'schrie'm,

Da gibt's a Szene da mußt hin

Was die woll'n das soll'n sie schrei'm,

Mir kann die Szene g'stolen blei'm

Da geh' i gestern in's U4,

Fangt a Dirndl o zum Red'n mit mir

Schwarze Lippen, grüne Haar

Da kannst ja Angst kriag'n, wirklich woar

I wui wieder ham,

I fui mi da so allan

I brauch' ka große Welt,

I wui ham nach Fürstenfeld

Niemals spiel' ich mehr in Wien

Wien hat mich garnet verdient

I spiel' höchstens noch in Graz, Sinnappel, Kirchen und Spinats

I brauch' kan Gürtel, i brauch' kann Ring

I wui z'ruck hinter'n Semmering

I brauch' nur das bisserl Geld

Für die Fahrt nach Fürstenfeld
I wui wieder ham,

I fui mi da so allan

I brauch' ka große Welt,

I wui ham nach Fürstenfeld

THE FURZE FIELD
Well I have a furze field my own dearest jewel

Where all my fine pheasants do fly

And if you come shooting when pheasant’s in season

I’ll show you love how to get by

You bring your dogs with you your gun in your hand

All loaded and primed and at your command

When the pheasants take flight you must get them in sight

And shoot straight and you’ll hit them all right

Some do like hunting for sport and for fame

And shooting and fishing the gentleman claim

But I take delight in another wee game

And I’m up from the night ‘till the morning

Now I have a fishpond my own darling jewel

Where all the young fishes do swim

And if you come fishing in coarse fishing season

I’ll show you love how to cast in

You bring your rods with your nets in your hand

Your hooks and your angles and at the bank stand

And when you throw in your tackle the fishes will come

And swim straight in the palm of your hand

Some do like hunting for sport and for fame

And shooting and fishing the gentleman claim

But I take delight in another wee game

And I’m up every night ‘till the morning

Now I have a warren my own darling jewel

Where all the young conies do play

And if you come rabbiting when rabbit’s in season

I’ll show you the right proper way

You bring your dogs with you your nets in your hand

Your spade and your ferret all at your command

When you stick in your ferret the rabbits will bolt

Straight into the palm of your hand

Some do like hunting for sport and for fame

And shooting and fishing the gentleman claim

But I take to poaching another mans game

And I’m up every night ‘till the morning

Now I have a game park my own darling jewel

Where I keep the red deer at the bay

And if you come hunting when hunting’s in season

I’ll show you the right proper way

Your dog pack will prowl and your horse it will stand

All saddled and bridled and at your command

And the deer will bound off with a blow of the horn

And it’s tally ho lads ain’t it grand

Some do like hunting for sport and for fame

And shooting and fishing the gentleman claim

But I take to poaching another mans game

And I’m up every night ‘till the morning

GAMES PEOPLE PLAY
Oh the games people play now every night and every day now

Never meaning what they say now never saying what they mean

For they while away the hours in their ivory towers

'Til they’re covered up with flowers in the back of a black limousine

Shalalalalalalalaa shalalalalalalalee

I'm talking about you and me and the games people play

Well, we make one another cry, we break a heart and say goodbye,

We cross our hearts and we hope to die when the other was to blame.

Neither one of us will give in and don't you know, it's a sin

When you think of things that might have been, it's a goddamn shame.

Shalalalalalalalaa shalalalalalalalee

I'm talking about you and me and the games people play

People walking up to you, yeah singing glory hallelujah

And they try to sock it to ya in the name of the Lord

And they teach you how to meditate, read your horoscope and seal your fate

And it's almost "to hell with hate", come on, brother, get on board.

Shalalalalalalalaa shalalalalalalalee

I'm talking about you and me and the games people play

So look around you, tell me what you see, what is happening to you and me.

God gave us the serenity but he said "Remember who I am".

For you've thrown away your sanity for your pride and your vanity.

You turned your back on humanity and you don't give a damn.

Shalalalalalalalaa shalalalalalalalee

I'm talking about you and me and the games people play

GASTHAUS IN ROETHENBACH
There is a gasthaus in Roethenbach

It's called the Kronenbrau

And it's where the F.C. Kickers live

But they're only drinking now

They like to fussball spielen

And often play a game

But they're better far at drinking

That's their real claim to fame

The kickers have a mascot

A giant of a man

They call him "Animal Hingson"

He'll bite you if he can

And when the Kickers have a match

He's in there heart and soul

But he always has to play right back

Right back behind the goal

But now that he is thirty years

And old age begins to loom

He'll have a new position

Left back in the changing room

There is a gasthaus in Roethenbach

It's called the Kronenbrau

And it's where the F.C. Kickers live

But they're only drinking now

GEORGIA ON MY MIND
Georgia Georgia the whole day through

Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind

I said Georgia a song of you

Comes as sweet and clear as moonlight through the pines

Other arms reach out to me

Other eyes smile tenderly

Still in peaceful dreams I see

The road leads back to you

Georgia oh Georgia no peace I find

Just an old sweet song it's Georgia on my mind

Other arms reach out to me

Other eyes smile tenderly

Still in peaceful dreams I see

The road leads back to you

Georgia oh Georgia no peace I find

Just an old sweet song it's Georgia on my mind

GET BACK
Jo Jo was a man who thought he was a loner

But he knew it couldn’t last

Jo Jo left his home in Tucson Arizona

For some California grass

Get back! get back! get back to where you once belonged

Get back! get back! get back to where you once belonged

Sweet Loretta Modern thought she was a woman

But she was another man

All the girls around her say she’s got it coming

But she gets in while she can

Get back! get back! get back to where you once belonged

Get back! get back! get back to where you once belonged

GIVE A LITTLE BIT
Give a little bit

Give a little bit of your love to me

I'll give a little bit

I'll give a little bit of my love to you

There's so much that we need to share

So send a smile and show you care

I give a little bit

I give a little bit of my life to you

So give a little bit

So give a little bit of your time to me

See the man with the lonely eyes

Oh take his hand he'll be surprised

Give a little bit

Give a little bit of your love to me

I give a little bit

I give a little bit of my life for you

Now's the time that we need to share

So find yourself we're on our way back home

Oh going home

Such a need,

Such a need to feel at home

Oh yeah we gotta see

Oh you gotta get a feeling

Oh you come along too

Come along feel it

Come along

Oh you come along too

Come along feel it

Take a look

Come along too,

Come along right,

Come along way

Sing it tonight
GO YOUR OWN WAY
Loving you isn't the right thing to do

But how can I ever change things that I feel

If I could baby I'd give you my world

How can I when you won't take it from me

You can go your own way (you can go your own way)

You can call it under but don't you dare

You can go your own way

You can go your own way

Tell me why everything turned around

Back in the checking up self you won't do

If I could baby I'd give you my word

Open up everything's waiting for you

You can go your own way (you can go your own way)

You can call it under but don't you dare

You can go your own way

You can go your own way

You can go your own way (you can go your own way)

You can call it under but don't you dare

You can go your own way

You can go your own way

You can go your own way (you can go your own way)

You can call it under but don't you dare

You can go your own way

You can go your own way

GOLD WEDDING BAND
And her breasts they hung like used condoms

Her dress it would make a marquee

A pound of cheese sits in her belly-button

But she is the girl for me

In the pub she squinted right at me

She said I’m the woman for you

And my eye is as good as it could be

Though it’s been years since I’ve seen out of two

And her breasts they hung like used condoms

Her dress it would make a marquee

A pound of cheese sits in her belly-button

But she is the girl for me

A cripple I’m not you derate me

Thought lame of the leg I’ll admit

But my acne has calmed down quite recently

And my fits have subsided a bit

And her breasts they hung like used condoms

Her dress it would make a marquee

A pound of cheese sits in her belly-button

But she is the girl for me

Last week on Sunday we married

And I’m happy as I could be

Though I close my eyes when we’re in bed

She’s a millionaire for a daddy

And her breasts they hung like used condoms

Her dress it would make a marquee

A pound of cheese sits in her belly-button

But she is the girl for me

GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY
Good golly miss Molly you sure like to ball

Good golly miss Molly you sure like to ball

When you're rocking and a rolling

You can’t hear your mamma call

From the early early morning to the early early night

When I caught miss Molly rocking at the house of blue lights

Good golly miss Molly you sure like to ball

When you're rocking and a rolling

You can’t hear your mamma call
My mum and papa told me son you'd better watch your step

If they knew about miss Molly I’d have to watch my papa myself

Good Golly miss Molly you sure like to ball

When you're rocking and a rolling

You can’t hear your mamma call
Going to a store gonna buy a diamond ring

When she hugs me and she kisses makes me ting a ling a ling

Good golly miss Molly you sure like to ball

When you're rocking and a rolling

You can’t hear your mamma call
Good golly miss Molly you sure like to ball

Good golly miss Molly you sure like to ball

When you're rocking and a rolling

You can’t hear your mamma call

From the early early morning to the early early night

When I caught miss Molly rocking at the house of blue lights

Good golly miss Molly you sure like to ball

When you're rocking and a rolling

You can’t hear your mamma call
GOOD OLD ROCK AND ROLL (MEDLEY)
When I was just a little boy you know my one and only joy

Was listening to that good old rock and roll

Now I’m just turned twenty three and if you wanna get a message to me

All you’ve gotta do is play that good old rock and roll

They’re really rocking in Boston in Philadelphia PA

Deep in the heart of Texas and down in ‘Frisco bay

Well all over St Louis and down in New Orleans

All the cats are gonna dance with sweet little sixteen

Sweet little sixteen she’s just got to have

About a half a million framed autographs

Her album’s filled with pictures she gets them one by one

She gets so excited won’t you look at her run

I’m gonna tell Aunt Mary ‘bout Uncle John

He say’s he’s got the blues but I know he’s having fun

Oh baby yeah baby woo hoo hoo maybe

We’re having us some fun tonight

Chantilly lace her pretty face her pony tail a hanging down

A little wiggle when you walk a giggle when you talk

That makes the world go round round round

Ain’t nothing in the world makes me feel so good

That makes me act so funny makes me spend my money

Make me feel so loose like a long legged goose

Ah baby that’s a what I like
Come on over baby whole lotta shaking going on

Come on over baby whole lotta shaking going on

I ain’t thinking whole lotta shaking going on
Well you can knock me down stamp on my face

Slander my name all over the place

Do anything that you wanna do

But oh ho honey lay off of my shoes

And don’t you step on my blue suede shoes

You can do any thing but lay off of my blue suede shoes

When I was just a little boy you know my one and only joy

Was listening to that good old rock and roll

Now I’m just turned twenty three and if you wanna get a message to me

All you’ve gotta do is play that good old rock and roll

GOODBYE
Please don’t wake me up too late tomorrow comes

And I will not be late

Late today when it becomes tomorrow

I will leave and go away

Goodbye goodbye goodbye

Goodbye my love goodbye

Songs that lingered on my lips excite me now

And linger on my mind

Leave your flowers at my door I’ll leave them there

For the one who waits behind

Goodbye goodbye goodbye

Goodbye my love goodbye

Far away my lover sings a lonely song

And calls me to his side

When a song of lonely love invites me on

I must go to his side

Goodbye goodbye goodbye

Goodbye my love goodbye

GOODBYE TO LOVE
I'll say goodbye to love

No one ever cared if I should live or die

Time and time again the chance for love has passed me by

And all I know of love is how to live without it

I just can't seem to find it

So I've made my mind up I must live my life alone

And though it's not the easy way I guess I've always known
I'd say goodbye to love

There are no tomorrows for this heart of mine

Surely time will lose these bitter memories

And I'll find that there is someone to believe in and to live for

Something I could live for

All the years of useless search have finally reached an end

Loneliness and empty days will be my only friends

From this day love is forgotten I'll go on as best I can

What lies in the future is a mystery to us all

No one can predict the wheel of fortune as it falls

There may come a time when I see that I've been wrong

But for now this is my song

And it's goodbye to love

I'll say goodbye to love

GRANDE AFFAIR
Let’s take a bus who needs a car

Or let’s walk it’s not very far

I’m not hungry much now are you

Do you mind if I share yours with you

You see I’ve no money but I think that you knew
Remember the moon on the walls didn’t she shine

The taste of the sheets and the feel of the wine

Wasn’t I glad that you were once mine

In the Grande affair

Now I stay in the best hotels

Where white coated waiters attend me

And I look at the beautiful girls

Do they really believe they can bend me

I ride now seldom I walk

I see friends but I’d rather not talk

I order red then I change it to white

And go drunk to my bed at night

You brought me from darkness back into the light
Remember the moon on the walls didn’t she shine

The taste of the sheets and the feel of the wine

Wasn’t I glad that you were once mine

In the Grande affair

GREAT BALLS OF FIRE
You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain

Too much love drives a man insane

You broke my will but what a thrill

Goodness gracious great balls of fire

I laughed ‘cause I thought it was funny

You came along and moved me honey

I changed my mind this love is fine

Goodness gracious great balls of fire

Kiss me baby ooh it feels good

Hold me baby yeah you’ve got to love me love a lover should

You’re fine so kind

I’m gonna tell this world that you’re mine mine mine

I chew my nails I twiddle my thumbs

I’m really nervous but it sure is fun

Come on baby you’re driving me crazy

Goodness gracious great balls of fire

Kiss me baby ooh it feels good

Yeah let me love you like a lover should

You’re fine so kind

I’m gonna tell this world that you’re mine mine mine

I chew my nails I twiddle my thumbs

I’m really nervous but it sure is fun

Come on baby you’re driving me crazy

Goodness gracious great balls of fire

GREAT PRETENDER
Oh yes, I'm the great pretender

Pretending that I'm doing well

My need is such, I pretend too much

I'm lonely but no one can tell

Oh yes, I'm the great pretender

Laughing out loud like a clown

I seem to be what I'm not, you see

I'm wearing my heart like a crown

Pretending that you're still around
Too real is this feeling, when I've made believe

Too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal

Oh yes, I'm the great pretender

I drift in a world of my own

I play the game but to my real shame

You've left me today on my own

Pretending that I'm not alone
Too real is this feeling, when I've made believe

Too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal

Oh yes, I'm the great pretender

Pretending that I'm doing well

My need is such, I pretend too much

I'm lonely but no one can tell

I'm lonely but no one can tell
THE GREEN FIELDS OF FRANCE
So how do you do Private William McBride

Do you mind if I sit here down by your graveside

And I’ll rest for a while in the warm summer’s sun

I’ve been walking all day and now I’m nearly done

I see by your gravestone you were only nineteen

When you joined the glorious fallen in nineteen sixteen

Well I hope you died quickly and I hope you died clean

Or Willy McBride was it slow and obscene

Did they beat the drums slowly did they sound the fifes lowly

Did the rifles fire o’er you as they lowered you down

Did the bugles sing last post in chorus

Did the Pipes play the flowers of the forest

And did you leave a wife or a sweetheart behind

And in some faithful heart does your memory shine

And though you died back in nineteen sixteen

To that loyal heart are you always nineteen

Or are you a stranger without even a name

For ever enshrined behind some glass pane

In an old photograph torn and tattered and stained

And faded to yellow in a brown leather frame

Did they beat ...
Well the sun’s shining now on these green fields of France

The warm wind blows gently and the red poppies dance

The trenches have vanished long under the ground

No gas and no barbed wire, no guns firing now

But here in this graveyard it’s still no man’s land

The countless white crosses in mute witness stand

To man’s blind indifference to his fellow man

And a whole generation who were butchered and damned

Did they beat ...
And I can’t help but wonder now Willy McBride

Do all those who lie here know why they died

Did you really believe them when they told you the cause

Did you really believe that this war would end wars

The suffering the sorrow the glory the shame

The killing the dying it was all done in vain

For Willy McBride it’s all happening again

And again and again and again and again

Did they beat ...
GROCER JACK
Pass the days into years

Yes eighty two brings many fears

Yesterday’s laughter turns to tears

His arms and legs don’t feel so strong

His heart is weak there’s something wrong

Opens windows in despair tries to breathe in some fresh air

His conscience cries get on your feet

Without you Jack the town can’t eat

Grocer Jack grocer Jack get off your back

Go into town don’t let them down oh no no

Grocer Jack grocer Jack get off your back

Go into town don’t let them down oh no no

The people that live in the town

Don’t understand he’s never been known to miss his round

It’s ten o’clock the housewives yell

When Jack turns up we’ll give him hell

Husbands moan at breakfast tables

No milk no eggs no marmalade labels

Mothers send their children out

To Jack’s house to scream and shout

Grocer Jack grocer Jack get off your back

Come into town don’t let us down oh no no

Grocer Jack grocer Jack get off your back

Come into town don’t let us down oh no no

It’s Sunday morning bright and clear

Lovely flowers decorate a marble square

People cry and walk away

And think about the fateful day

Now they wish they’d given Jack

More affection and respect

The little children dressed in black

Don’t know what’s happened to old Jack

Grocer Jack grocer Jack is it true what mummy says

You won’t come back oh no no

Grocer Jack grocer Jack is it true what mummy says

You won’t come back oh no no

Grocer Jack grocer Jack is it true what mummy says

You won’t come back oh no no

Grocer Jack grocer Jack is it true what mummy says

You won’t come back oh no no
