The "Brasserie Ellezelloise" is a young company created on the first of January 1993. The first beer was brewed in the month of July of that year.

The small farm where the brewery is established was purchased in 1985 and the preparation of the buildings and acquisition of second hand equipment took 8 years.
The success of this project is the result of the passion of Philippe Gerard, the Master Brewer which has been forged over 25 years of experience in beer making in several breweries, and the advice of his father, himself a brewery engineer. Philippe Gerard named his beer "Quintine", after a witch of Ellezelles, in keeping with its rich folklore.
Traditional brewing techniques have been preserved. The mash tank, the grist filter tank and the flame heated hop kettle are in copper. The wooden crates contain 12 or 24 swing top bottles with porcelain stoppers. The brewing method is by infusion, which is the oldest technique. Only basic materials are used: water, barley malt, bitter and aromatic hops, pure yeast base and dextrose. No other ingredients enter into the beer's composition.
Quintine, is a top fermented blond beer, not centrifuged, filtered or pasteurised. It has an alcohol density of 8%.

The product range of the Brasserie Ellezelloise is completed by "Quintine Ambrée" at 8,5% made with caramel malt and "Hercule" a stout at 9%, based on roasted malt.

Tasting room (+/- 70 people)

Terrace (+/-120 people)

Guided tour; further information at the brewery
Opening hours:
From Monday till Saterday from 8 a.m. till 7 p.m.

On Sundays from 9 a.m. till 12.00, from 3 p.m. till 7 p.m.

Ellezelloise produces five regular beers, a blond and an amber ale, and a hardy Belgian stout. All of them are made in small batches and are lagered for ten days in German oak casks. They are strong, full-bodied, and very satisfying. The Quintine Amber and Blond are named for a witch of local legend. And Agatha Christie’s Detective Hercule Poirrot (probably Belgium’s best-known citizen and a native son of Ellezelles) is the namesake for the “Hercule” Stout. It is the only distinctively Belgian stout, and every bit as sturdy and dapper as its namesake.
The Brasserie Ellezelloise (pronounced “EL-ZEL-WOZ”), is located in the town of Ellezelles in the gentle “hill country” of Belgium. Founded in 1993, the tiny brewery manages to produce 1000 hectoliters per year - the most of any brewery of the Belgian Artisanal Brewers Guild. Housed in a picturesque converted barn in French-speaking Belgium, the brewery includes a cozy café to which the local folk and connoisseurs from Brussels love to repair on weekend afternoons. There you can enjoy a wonderful Ellezelloise brew, served by the brewer.

Vidrala continually endeavours to integrate new technological enhancements that we create within our own R&D (+I) department or that are introduced to the world market by the glass packing industry. We rely on raw material and finished product laboratories: surface treatment, dimensional and capacity controls, pressure resistance, thermal shock together with many other kinds of controls and testing. At all productions stages, we apply an automatic IT monitoring process, without human intervention, which make possible various reporting configurations. Today, process simulation is getting more and more relevant. We have developed various tools that enable us to anticipate production results in relation to variation applied TO furnace design, moulding processes, etc¡K Vidrala relies on and applies these tools to constantly improve processes and the final quality of our glass containers.

We are over 1700 people involved in the Vidrala project.
Distributed over 5 countries (Spain, Portugal, Italy, France and Belgium) we have a longstanding consolidated presence in the world of glass recipient manufacture. This is already a long history, however, it continues to renew and rejuvenate daily. In fact, this is one of our strong points with a view to the future; i.e. a magnificent balance between the experience of the oldest and enthusiasm of the newest.
For this reason, Vidrala Group is a workplace of prestige, likewise an option for professional development and growth for many people in many parts of Europe. This allows us to have very high loyalty ratios with very low rotation in all our work centres.
Mission
Within the packing industry, Vidrala aims at facilitating its customers’ developments by fulfilling their expectations and by building future on sustainable values for the shareholders, personnel, collaborating companies and generally speaking for society.
