ABSTRACT

The paper presents the Jewish people in ancient Israel under the Roman Empire, their hate towards the Roman rule and their attempts to rebell against their Roman leaders.

The paper also presents the Roman siege of Jerusalem, the fall of this Jewish fortress on September 28, 70 A.C., the description of this siege made by Flavius Josephus in Bellum Judaicum and the fate of Jewish people afterwar.

In the end the paper shows the Jewish rebellion under the emperors Traian and Hadrian and Antonius Pius’s more temperate measures regarding the Jews. Historically, the fall of Jerusalem and the suppressive measures taken by Hadrian during the last attempts of the Jewish rebellion marked the beginning of the Jews migration all over the world, process called Diaspora.
