ABSTRACT
In this article, the author presents a Roman silver ring bearing the inscription VTERE FELIX, discovered at Cioroiul Nou, Cioroiaşi, Dolj County. The archaeological context of the discovery suggests that the piece can be dated back to the 3rd century.
Other discoveries with the same inscription from Roman Dacia: Resculum/ Bologa, Cluj County (silver ring), Potaissa/ Turda, Cluj County (golden ring), Dierna/ Orşova, Mehedinţi County (gold ring), Sucidava/ Celei, Olt County (bronze ring), Porolissum/ Moigrad, Sălaj County (ceramic vessel).
Based on the archaeological context of the discoveries from Dierna/ Orşova and Cioroiul Nou, the author drew the conclusion that the pieces with the inscription VTERE FELIX were in circulation in Roman Dacia, during the 3rd century.
The objects without any Christian symbol cannot be Christian. As expression VTERE FELIX can be found on many objects everywhere in the Roman Empire, the conclusion is that this word was a popular wish.
