Disaster Risk Management
|
Support government in developing an integrated and coherent approach to disaster management (from prevention to recovery) to ensure a strong resilience perspective at the centre of the Government work. The initiative will seek to build capacity of the system (communities and Government) to be innovative, flexible and responsive to unplanned economic, political and social changes associated with climate changes and urban spatial patterns. This may also include an element of SA’s regional support to disaster risk reduction and management, through the NDMC.
Pilot project on managing urban risks in a climate change context at local government level, and involves training at community level, and urban risk profiling for the most vulnerable areas of the City of Johannesburg and drafting of an integrated risks reduction strategy with a particular focus on promoting resilience, food security, increasing knowledge at local and government level around drivers for urban risks.
