Architecture. Plenty of people live, work, shop, learn, worship, seek care, and spend their leisure time inside buildings or structures. It means we evaluate them based on how effectively these buildings serve their specific purposes. To illustrate, the importance of colors is essential in architecture, especially when dealing with the interior of hospital rooms due to the effect of colors on the human soul. Everyone’s imagination and worldview can expand if at least basic architecture and drawing skills are taught at schools. If I were asked to describe an architecture in 3 things, I would think of these: Imagination, creativity and the ability to see 50 years ahead of the current time. Because, at first any ideas are born in our mind, then these ideas are put on paper through imagination. Before I arrived at STU, I aimed for new knowledge, new opportunities and a deeper acquaintance with European Architecture. Because I am from Uzbekistan, and European architecture is a completely different world for me. I can definitely say that I am achieving my goals with the “Current Trends in Architecture” classes. A clear example of this was the first lecture on the Hungarian architectural scene, presented by dynamic Zsolt Gunther from 3H Architects. Although I was unable to attend this lecture, I managed to watch a recorded version of this lecture on the Reflexie Architecture Facebook page. The main reason I was inspired by this lecture was that he presented about the concept, context, space and decoration of both historical and contemporary European architecture. Especially, the explanation of the ancient buildings’ symmetry and decoration were attractive. Nevertheless, it may be difficult to find such patterns and ornaments in modern architecture. In my opinion, it seems to me a little bit boring because, I considered the detailed patterns and ornaments in historical monuments would make the buildings look more charming.
To conclude, each lecture provides an opportunity to get to know the modern architecture. In addition, it would be great if there were practical sessions organized by lecturers once a month. For instance, going to different architectural firms to get acquainted with the processes of working with real modern projects, or taking a tour of modern buildings and structures. These are all just my thoughts.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
