French size system for shoe last
Abstract
In this article first shoe lasts are defined, general information regarding shoe lasts is given and the main sizing systems for shoe lasts are classified.
Secondly, the French sizing system, which is one of the most common sizing system for shoe lasts throughout the world, is analyzed in detail. The basic characteristics of the system are introduced and the concept of Paris point is explained. Lastly, formulas used for measuring the length and width of a shoe last are improved as well as tables containing all sizes of Paris points from 16- 48 are illustrated.
