Two legends collected by Herodotus on the territory
of the South Azerbaijan
Summary
The article is talk about the legends take place in a special position on the map of South Azerbaijan folklore. The author focuses specifically on the two legends gathered by the excellent historian of ancient times, “the father of history” Herodotus at the South Azerbaijan. One of them – “Astiag” legend was recorded by Herodotus in the V century. Other legend - the “Tomris” legend have been dedicated at the books about Azerbaijani folklore, literature and history. The author thoroughly analyzed these two legends, tried to get a look at most of the materials.
