The history of translating Arab dastans
into European languages
The process of enriching civilization, expressed in translating the rich scientific and literary heritage of the East into the world languages, has an ancient history.
The history of translating dastans – ornate form of Arabic oral folk literature, which is one of the trends of this process, into the European languages is studied in this article. The article includes the opinions and views of Western Arabists about Arabian dastans, which played an important role in the development of European Oriental studies.
