The history of Novruz holiday was always connected with the national traditions of Azerbaijan.In mithes and legends show the connection of this holiday with Azerbaijani land.Aceording to the sourees of the middle ages Novruz holiday improved its connection with Azerbaijan traditions. Till XX c in Azerbaijan this holiday was celebrated with great intention.In XVIII-XIX c Azerbaijan was occupied by Russia and the Fzar government did not celebrate this holiday officially. In spite of this the people celebrated their holiday. As a result of revolutions which took place in the beginning of XX c. The Izar government collapsed and the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic wasestablished in Northerr Azerbaijan. The government paid a great attention to the celebration of this holiday and considered it one of the sources of national ideology. During USSR the celebration of this holiday was forbidden. At the end of the XX c Nothern Azerbaijan regained its independence and Novruz holiday was freed from the national oppression. It became the greatest achiievment of Azerbaijan people when Novruz holiday was included into the list of the holidays of world peoples by UNESCO on the 30 th of September,2009. The greatest role of this holiday in the development of governing traditions of Azerbaijan is of its being declared at the 64th sessions of UNO as “International Novruz Day”.
