Statutory Bodies


3.1 The Council

Under the provision of Clause 3(4) of the AICTE Act (52 of 1987), the Council was reconstituted on March 28, 2005. The composition of the Council is given in Appendix 3.1.



3.2 The Executive Committee

In exercise of the powers conferred by Clause 12(1) of the AICTE Act, 1987, the AICTE had reconstituted the Executive Committee on April 5, 2005. The composition of the Executive Committee is given in Appendix 3.2.



    1. All India Boards of Studies

The All India Board of Studies advise the Executive Committee on academic matters falling in their respective areas of concern including norms and standards, model curricula, model facilities and structure of courses, academic facilities and any other academic matter arising from time to time.

In pursuance of the powers conferred under Clauses 13(1) and 13(2) of the AICTE Act, the All India Boards of Studies were re-constituted by the Council in September 2006. Nominations of the Chairman and the Members of the Boards are made for a term of three years. During the period under report, the Council had ten statutory All India Boards advising the Council in their areas of specialization. The names of the Chairmen of the various Boards are listed below:
