1Summary of changes for 2018/19

These Regulations were approved by Senate in July 2016 following a period of consultation with academic and professional services staff and the Students’ Union. The 2016/17 version re-organised the content and updated terminology from the previous Regulations to make them easier to understand for students and staff. New sections were added to clarify how assessment at City is managed and the duties of Assessment Boards and their advisory panels. Some further updates to the Regulations were approved by Senate in 2017 as detailed in Appendix 6. :

Senate approved the following updates for the 2018/19 Regulations in July 2018:

  • 4.7 Failure of a Module (minor amendment to note that, where the criteria in 4.7 are met, an Assessment Board may permit students who have had approved Extenuating Circumstances (ECs) at any point during the academic year to trail a limited amount of assessment (no more than 15 credits), for example if they had ECs at the first sit and are taking their first attempt during the resit period (without ECs) and fail that attempt.

  • 5.7.3 (minor amendment to align the wording in section 5.7.3 with Appendix 2 Membership of Assessment Boards and Panels).
