6.4.1. Cropping Patern Cropping pattern is described in terms of the area under various crops at different periods of a year. An optimum cropping pattern for an area can ideally be determined by using systems analysis. If the local preferences and requirements of the area are included in the analysis, and the necessary inputs are made available, the farmers will adopt the cropping pattern arrived at using systems analysis. One such analysis carried out for the Gomti-Kalyani doab under Sarda Sahayak command has recommended a cropping pattern which is expected to increase the net annual benefit to Rs. 23.67 crore from the existing benefit of Rs. 11.57 crore (15).
