Investment securities held-to-maturity securities: Held-to-maturity investments are securities with fixed maturity and fixed or determinable payments where management has both the intent and ability to hold the investments to maturity. Held-to-maturity securities are initially recognized at cost, and subsequently carried at amortised cost using the effective yield method. Interest earned whilst holding held-to-maturity securities is reported as interest income.
The Bank has no financial assets that were initially classified as held-to-maturity which will not be classified as held-to-maturity investments for the following two years due to subsequent changes in classification. There is no diminution in value for the held-to-maturity securities and no provision for impairment is made.
