2.4.2. Introduction
What is Natural science? What are its branches? Why do we teach science to school
children? What do we teach them in science? These are the basic questions to which a
teacher must know the answers for. This unit will help you to understand the concept of
natural science, the purpose of teaching science and objectives of teaching science for the
cognitive, affective and psychomotor development of human abilities. You will also learn
about the science curriculum and its place in school education.
