Producer: Mr David Claughton Cogo interviewed Rob Fitzpatrick and discussed the national survey into the biogeochemical and biophysical changes that may occur in soils when drained. The following media link plays the entire radio interview: http://www.abc.net.au/southeastsa/players.htm. (i) ABC SA REGIONAL RADIO South Australian Country Hour, 12:44PM ACST Tuesday, 15 July 2003. Rob Fitzpatrick discussed the recently published CSIRO Technical Report on what happens when different types of soils are drained. Fitzpatrick mainly talked about soil types that should never be drained (Acid Sulfate Soils) because the biogeochemical changes that occur are usually not reversible and the benefits of such knowledge for land management practices and ways in which existing problems can be rectified.
