    ASEAN Association of Radiology

    The AAR nominated me in 2003 to be the visiting professor in Diagnostic Radiology to Indonesia. I visited Jakarta and Semarang in Java, and gave 2 two-day courses related to imaging of the breast and the musculoskeletal system

    College of Radiologists, Sri Lanka

    I ran a one-day workshop including several lectures and hands-on scanning in musculoskeletal ultrasound for the College of Radiologists in Sri Lanka

    I gave lectures on MRI at the GE CT & MR End-User Meeting in Qingdao, and a site visit to the MR unit at Suzhou, where I gave several lectures and provided hands-on guidance for advanced MRI training.

    MRI Lectures

    Hong Kong Sanatorium Hospital

    A series of lectures on Magnetic Resonance Imaging given to the technologists, radiologists and honorary physicians at the Hong Kong Sanatorium Hospital. I was the sole speaker and presenter. Topics included: MRI physics, MRI special techniques, haemorrhage and contrast media, brain MRI, spine MRI, and musculoskeletal MRI.

    In addition I developed new protocols for their MRI scanner.

2008–

New Curriculum for Diagnostic Radiology Training

Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists

I am leading the development and implementation of a new syllabus and curriculum for professional training in Diagnostic Radiology for Australia and New Zealand. This project commenced in 2005 under the leadership of Prof. J. Slavotinek, the current Chief Censor of the RANZCR, and was launched in 2010.



2005-2008

New Curriculum for Diagnostic Radiology Training

Specialist Training Committee in Diagnostic Radiology & Education Board, College of Radiologists Singapore

I planned and developed a revised framework for a 5 year seamless training programme in Diagnostic Radiology training for Singapore hospitals, in conjunction with the Specialist Training Committee for Diagnostic Radiology



This incorporated a new course in Basics of Radiology in the first year of training, a revised method of progress competency assessment, a new Professional Development course in the fourth year of training, and integration of the Master of Medicine for Radiology as a research project in the 4th and 5th years of training.

I helped to evaluate the undergraduate work of two Electrical Engineering students for 3D modeling of human imaging data:



  • One student produced a method of unfolding and flattening a 3D model of the colon from axial CT colonographic images.

  • Tan Ek Tsoon developed a method of efficient 3D rigid and nonrigid registration for dynamically acquired breast MRI volumetric image registration.

Teaching & Examining, FRCR 2B Preparation Course

Singapore Radiological Society and National University of Singapore

This annual course to prepare candidates for the examinations has been held for the at Singapore General Hospital, National University of Singapore and more recently, National University Hospital. I have been an invited lecturer and examiner for this series of courses every year.



2000-2008

Curriculum and Framework for FRCR 2B Examination Preparation Course

Specialist Training Committee in Diagnostic Radiology, Singapore

This course was developed at my instigation in Singapore to help prepare candidates better for the final FRCR 2B viva voce and written case examinations. It consists of a rotational series of mock exam-condition written film quiz and viva voce tutorials for about 4 months prior to the examinations. The pass rate for this component of the exam has increased significantly since its introduction.

For this course, I developed the framework, guidelines for teachers, the documentation and guide to trainees, and I continue to coordinate and monitor every 6 months.

I teach at least once for each cycle of this course which I also coordinate. This course is organized once very 6 month posting cycle for professional Radiology trainees

RNSH Radiology Department ran a monthly course in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, given to radiologists from other centres from Australia and New Zealand. Lectures on MRI contrast media and special techniques.
