Dear Students and Instructors,
The Tacoma Kendo & Iaido Club would like to invite you to the great Pacific Northwest this summer for an exciting weekend of iaido training. This year’s location is Pacific Lutheran University about 40 miles south of Seattle. PLU offers a large gymnasium for training, good food, good lodging, and nearby restaurants.

Registration fee: The two-day seminar fee is $120, or seminar plus takai is $150.
Taikai: The 15^th annual AUSKF Iaido Championships is open to AUSKF members only. The taikai fee is $75.00 if you are not registering for the seminar.
Shinsa: Please note: All participants in the shinsa MUST also register for the seminar.

The testing fee is $50. See attached schedule for menjo charges. Send a separate check for the menjo. It will be cashed only if you pass the shinsa.

Jodo Workshop: Free for iaido seminar participants. $25 PLU usage fee will be charged for non-seminar participants. Must be an AUSKF member to participate.
Non-AUSKF fee: There is an additional fee of $45 for non-AUSKF iaido seminar participants. (Non-AUSKF members may not participate in the taikai or jodo workshop.)
Lodging at PLU (price per person)

$63.00 per night South Hall apartments (two bedrooms and a shared bathroom)

$46.00 per night Tinglestad dorm rooms (two people in one room with a shared bathroom)
Meal cards for breakfast and lunch, included in the cost of lodging, will be provided to PLU overnight guests.
Meals

On-campus cafeteria offers breakfast and lunch. Participants who overnight off-campus may use cash or debit, (charge cards are not accepted), to buy meals in the cafeteria.

Please respect the campus policies. Smoking and alcohol are not permitted anywhere on campus. Violators may be asked to leave.
Note: Please make sure all of your equipment is in good and safe working order for the camp. All swords are subject to inspection. Camp officials have the right to deny use of any swords deemed to be unsafe.

Late Fee: Entries received after June 6, 2012 will incur an additional $35 late fee.
Please note: No shinsa applications will be accepted after June 6, 2012.
Payment: Send one check for all camp fees and a separate check. If testing, include a separate check for your menjo fee. (This check will be cashed only if you pass the shinsa.)

Make all checks payable to "All United States Kendo Federation."

There will be no refunds after June 6, 2012.

2012 AUSKF Iaido Camp FAQ
About the Meal Card: Meal cards are pre-programmed to reset for each meal period. The cards each have a set amount of $8.00 for breakfasts and $11.00 for lunches for each day. Breakfast is served each day of the seminar. Lunch is served in the cafeteria on Thursday and Friday only. Boxed lunches will be provided at the gym on Saturday and Sunday to those staying at PLU. Other participants may order a boxed lunch for Saturday and/or Sunday only for $11.00.
Please note: It is not possible to adjust meal costs per meal period. In other words, breakfast is preset for $8.00 -- if you spend only $4.00 on breakfast there will be no refund of the remaining $4.00 on the card. Meal cards may not be combined with any other form of payment. Only one form of payment may be used per transaction.
Why are there meal cards? The University needs to have an estimate of how much food to prepare in order to prepare enough for lodgers and to avoid waste. Therefore, PLU issues meal cards to all who stay on campus.
Lodging: South Hall is shared with 2 to 4 people. Each person has their own bedroom, two people share a bathroom. A common living area has a full sized refrigerator, stove and range. Tinglestad is a traditional style dormitory, with two beds in one room. The bathroom is down the hall. You may wish to bring an extra blanket.
On-Campus Parking: A free parking pass together with a map of appropriate lots will be provided for those who need to park on campus at registration.
Why are there Camp Fees? Camp fees help defray the costs of instruction and venue.

Airport - Transportation The gym, campus cafeteria (for breakfast and lunch), campus accommodations, and nearby restaurants are within walking distance of each other. Registrants are responsible for their own transportation to the camp, and from the camp to the Sayonara party. The closest airport is SeaTac International Airport. SEATAC airport is approximately 45 minutes north of PLU. You will not need a rental car (or taxi) unless you're staying off campus. PLU Campus Accommodations The two residence halls available to us are South Hall (See FAQ sheet) which has two bedrooms that share a bathroom, or Tinglestad (standard dorm room) which sleeps two people in one room with a shared bathroom. We can match you with a suite mate, or you can indicate your preference on the registration form. Rooms will include linens, basic toiletries, and a towel service. Rooms are also available to arrive early and/or extend your stay at the same rate, upon request. Breakfast and lunch will be served at The Commons with a wide variety of options to fit any taste or diet. The cafeteria is closed for dinner. Answer two questions from the group of questions for the rank for which you are testing.
Submit your answers with your application, or email them to [e-mail] (shinsa administrator), or bring them to the seminar and turn them in to the shinsa administrator.
