Course Contents	Mediterranean Security Relations between EU ve North Africa Middle East Peace Process
Course Objectives	This course aims to analyze the Mediterranean as a historical and cultural sub-system and examines the broad issues such as democratization, the North-South gap, regional organizations, threat perceptions and other security concerns of the region. At the end of the course students can understand the region and comment the Turkey’s neighbourhood.

Course Contents	Analysis of economic and other forms of regional integration arrangements in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South and North America. Motives and non-economic rationale behind forming regional groupings. Costs and benefits of forming regional groupings in both standard and new theories.

Dersin Amacı (Öğrenme Çıktıları)	Bu dersin sonunda öğrenci Batı Avrupa’da II. Dünya Savaşı sonrasında bütünleşme girişimlerinin nedenlerinin ve bugüne kadar geçirdiği aşamalarda başarılarını ve başarısızlıklarını kavrayıp, Avrupa Birliği’nin yapısı ve politikalarını öğrenir. Türkiye’nin AB’ ne üyeliği sürecini ve tam üyelik şansını değerlendirir.

Course Contents	Economic and political integration in Western Europe in a historical perspective. The undercurrents of nationalism vs. supra-nationalism in forming institutions and policies in EU. Turkey’s stance vis-à-vis West European integration.
Course Objectives (Learning Outcomes)	To grasp the rationale of integration initiatives in Western Europe in the post World War II era, successes and failures of such initiatives, working of the institutions and policies of the EU.
