1 Background and general description of archives/ records program:
Archival training has been provided by UW Aberystwyth since 1956. Responsibility for the archives course moved from the department of history to the department of information and library studies in 1993 but the archive course retains strong links with the department of history. In 1997 an MSc Econ in Records Management was introduced to run along side the archives course and in 1998 this course was made available by distance learning. The MSc Econ in Archive Administration was also launched in distance learning mode in April 2002.
