Francesco Visini

Born: February 3, 1977, Chieti (IT).
Current position: Researcher (project-based) at the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV), Tettonofisica e Vulcanologia, Rome, Italy.

Qualifications: Apr. 2008 Ph.D. degree in “Geologia ed evoluzione della litosfera” from the University “G. d’Annunzio” of Chieti.

Experience: The research carried out by Francesco Visini over the years has focused mainly on the contribution of structural geology and regional tectonics in the identification and parameterization of seismogenic potential of active faults for seismic hazard studies. In his research Francesco Visini concentrates most on parameterizing seismogenically active faults for seismic hazard purposes. In the frame of this topic he joined structural-geology fieldwork with laboratory investigations and data analysis. An important part of the studies is defining a reliable method to evaluate recurrence time of moderate-to large earthquakes starting from fault geometry and slip-rates.

Since 2012 he is a researcher at the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV), Rome, Italy.

Francesco Visini was involved in several national and international projects:

2012-1015, Project MIUR-FIRB ABRUZZO, coordinatore Dr. Gianluca Valensise

2012, Constraining OBservations into Seismic hazard (COBAS)”, coordinator Laura Peruzza (project S2), supported by the Italian Civil Protection (DPC) and Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV);
