Ask students to find lines in the story used to protect
people or to thank people for protecting them:
Be careful … It’s dangerous. Thank you. Are you OK? Don’t sit down! •
Encourage students to think of times when they can
protect their friends, e.g., when playing sports, when
crossing the street, if they see a dangerous animal or
insect nearby. Ask students if they’ve ever protected
someone in a dangerous situation or prevented
an accident.
