OK. What type of energy do you use at home? Do
you use wind power?
Pedro:
No, we don’t. But my grandmother does. She lives
near a wind farm.
Carla:
Hmm. What about solar power?
Pedro:
We use solar power in the summer, but not in the
winter.
Carla:
What do you use in the winter?
Pedro:
Gas.
Carla:
Do you use electricity?
Pedro:
Yes, but we are careful with it. We always turn off
our television and computer at night.
Carla:
And how much water do you use? Do you take
showers or baths?
Pedro:
We take showers. And we collect rainwater for our
plants.
Carla:
Good. Thanks. Now, what about recycling? Do you
throw away all your trash, or do you recycle things?
Pedro:
We recycle things. Then people can use them again.
Carla:
What do you recycle?
Pedro:
We recycle paper and cardboard.
Carla:
What about glass? You can recycle bottles.
Pedro:
Yes – and aluminum, too.
Carla:
And plastic?
Pedro:
No – can you recycle plastic?
