Look at the photograph and ask

Tell students they’re going to read a blog by one of the 
girls in the photograph. Encourage students to guess 
which instrument she plays, where she went to enter a 
competition with the group, and whether they won the 
competition.

Let’s find out! Read and listen
. Play the recording. 
Students listen and find out which of the details they 
guessed correctly.

Then say 
Now listen and choose the words
. Play the 
recording again. Students listen and choose the words
from the text selection each time. They can write the 
words down in their notebooks, or just point to the 
correct words.

Check the activity by asking different students to read 
the text aloud.
