ABSTRACT The reuse of waste water for the irrigation have been made for several years. Because of increasing the demand to water, the irrigation with treated waste water provides conservation of water sources especially in arid zones. Besides it is an important factor in the planning and developing of them. Today, by the use of treated waste water which contains nutrients for the irrigation will decrease the demand to fertilizers. In the present paper, the nutrient removal efficiency of the floating plant (Lemna minor L.) from waste water and the contribution of treated wastewater to ecological agriculture when it is used for irrigation have been investigated. From the results of this study, we suggested that duckweed is very effective in the removal of NH4-N and PO4-P from the waste water is suitable for criteria of irrigation and useful in the use of ecological agriculture.
