PhotonX Networks develops innovative optical transceivers for datacenter networking solutions. As a startup company, PhotonX Networks was spun-off from the Eindhoven University of Technology to commercialize the various technology being developed for datacenter equipment. PhotonX Networks designs, develops and tests optical transceivers to be used for mid-board optical transceiver purposes. Using mid-board transceivers allows the implementation of all optical ported front panels greatly increasing the radix of network switching equipment to meet the demands of data communication. The Institute of Communication, lnformation and Perception Technologies: TeCIP has a research area focused on optical communications. This research is carried out by around 70 people, and covers the full value chain, from component design and testing to system and network demonstration. Among the research topics we have: fiber-based sensors; all-optical signal processing, LED-based visible light optical wireless communications, systems and subsystems for access networks, coherent systems for long-haul high speed; architectures of optical communication networks. The institute has a decade-long collaboration with Ericsson R&D and the Italian Interuniversity Consortium for Telecommunications: CNIT. It is active in several FP7 research projects; among them, it is coordinating COCONUT project on coherent WDM PON, and the ERC Project PHODIR, on a photonic-based radar.
