Summary

The importance of household research, especially the urgency of the study of the income sources of household in mountainous and foothill areas, was emphasized. The core of the research is the study of income sources from the agricultural activities of households in the mountainous and foothill regions in Azerbaijan and Georgia. Information was provided on the selection of households for the survey in both countries and the survey methodology in the selected sites. At the same time, on the basis of the data obtained as a result of the survey, indicators of income, expenses and profitability of households were calculated by type of agricultural activity. The calculation of profits from relevant activities is also provided. As a result of comparative analysis, the factors affecting the income of households in both countries from agricultural activities were identified. The article identifies the reasons for low and high incomes from various sources, and explores opportunities to increase household incomes. Based on the obtained results, relevant proposals were made.
