3.2 Overall description of the project (maximum 3 pages)
Please provide a short description, which gives an account of the project’s work during the reporting period and summarises the foreseen activities during the rest of the project period. It should cover, inter alia, the following.
This network aims at contributing to give tools to enhance the mobility of students within and outside Europe, and to support the recognition of diploma. For this purpose, the running activity concerns:
-
the setting up of common definitions about the competencies to define the paths of the students, during their studies
-
the analysis of accreditation procedures and methodologies all over Europe (and also in third world countries) in order to make some propositions for a common or shared approach, throughout Europe, in order to enhance comparability of curricula and recognition of diploma.
-
the setting of quality assessment on some pedagogical resources available in EIE in Europe,
-
the state of the art of the implementation of the Bologna process in EIE in Europe, the various curricula available, at the Bachelor, Master and PhD levels, the existence of international curricula…
This project follows the previous THEIERE thematic network (www.eaeeie.org/theiere)
We can say the main activities deal with competencies (Tuning activity) which are an important element for the implementation of accreditation procedures, the mean to reach this purpose being the Bologna process approach.
Concerning competencies, some links are established notably with TREE and the Civil Engineering Thematic Network, and also with other Scientific and Technological Thematic Networks in the frame of the Archipelago transversal action (particularly EEGECS and the thematic network on Agricultural engineering).
A reflection is done within the project in order to attract students to the scientific studies (particularly in EIE) and also to attract women, since women are less present in our disciplines. Contacts have been established with the TN on Women Studies (Athina) and with PROMETEA (Empowering Women Engineering Carreers in Industrial and Academic Research)
