D1 Minutes of the meeting of Lviv from 4 to 9 September

(by Zbigniew MROZEK and Olivier Bonnaud)
This meeting was organised in the frame of BEST association, European association of students in the rame of engineering. The thematic of this meeting was: Bologna Process Forum
The both present experts from EAEEIE prepared presentations and took active role during "National & Inter-European Challenges in Bologna Process Implementation" in Lviv, Ukraine on September, 3-12.
In 1999, the European Commission initiated officially the Bologna Process, as the education ministers from around 30 European countries signed this joint declaration in order to establish a European area of higher education by 2010. Thus, the aim of the process was to create a common intereuropean framework in order to make the various national higher education systems to converge towards a more transparent system in order to encourage the mobility of the students, academics and researchers.

Nevertheless, there have been many challenges in the countries that are involved in this process. Obviously there is a vast variety of the approaches towards the national implementation that are related to significant changes in the engineering education during the last years. These challenges are greater for the countries that joined the Bologna Process after 1999. During the symposium on education, these approaches will be discussed and ideas for an efficient implementation will be favored.

The Bologna Process, first established in 1999, expresses the intereuropean approach to higher education. Since then, the progress of each individual state has been different, based on the specific national circumstances. BEST is organizing a Symposium on Education where students and academics discuss these efforts and provide the various stakeholders with their valuable feedback and ideas.

The part of opening ceremony (including address by Vice-Rector, Prof Y.M. Rashkevych) was presented in two local TV programs. Two moderators from BEST,  two experts from EAEEIA (O. Bonnaud and Z. Mrozek) and over 20 students from EU and non EU countries were active in the Symposium.

The both presentations given by O. Bonnaud were :”Bologna process and accreditation in Electrical and Information Engineering: EAEEIE involvement and proposals” and “Bologna process in the ideal University”. This second presentation started several parallel working sessions for sthe students.
