FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO SCIENTISTS/ENGINEERS FOR ATTENDING TRAINING/ INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE/SHORT TERM COURSE/WORKSHOP ABROAD OBJECTIVES: (a) To augment the indigenous efforts and to take advantage of the latest technological innovations taking place in various countries. (b) To encourage scientists for higher research. SCHEME The scheme is open to two categories of applicants: CATEGORY-I: OFFICERS OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT/ COUNCIL/HARSAC, HARYANA The officials of the State Science & Technology Department/Council/HARSAC who have been deputed by the State Government to attend any short term training course/conference/meeting related to the development of Science & Technology will be provided full financial assistance of airfare (economy class) & registration fee. The assistance for attending the short term training course/workshop/conference/ meeting in any of the foreign country will cover air fare (economy class) lowest prevailing rates and registration fee for the Science & Technology Department/ Council, HARSAC officials. No other charges will be provided.
These applicants shall be provided partial financial assistance up to Rs 25,000 or 50% of the actual expenditure whichever is less. In the actual expenditure only air fair (for economy class) lowest prevailing rates and registration fees would be considered for the travel grant to the scientist of the state. Besides this no expenditure would be released to the scientist.
(a) The applicant has an invitation and acceptance of his/her paper to be presented in the conference / or has an invitation to chair a session or is an invited speaker. (b) The applicant is from state University / Engineering College / Medical College or a Technical Personnel of the Government of Haryana. (c) The applicant has not availed financial assistance from Director, Science & Technology in the last three years. However this period may be relaxed by the Secretary to Government Haryana, Science & Technology Department in special circumstances. (d) The conference is of an international character. (e) The preference will be given to candidates working in the field of Biotechnology, Computer Sciences, Genetic Engineering, Information Technology, Satellite and Remote Sensing and Non-Conventional Energy Sources etc. (f) The application completes in all respect, forwarded through proper channel and received 8 weeks prior to the date of the conference. III. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED: (a) One copy of the complete application form, record sheet and bio-data format. (b) Invitation from organizers and important correspondence from the organizers. (c) Abstract of the paper to be presented in the Conference. (d) Evidence in support of acceptance of the paper or presentation and or invitation from organizer to chair a session or an invited speaker. (e) Evidence to show that the conference is of international Character. (f) Technical programme of the Conference. (g) Copy of clearance from appropriate authority for accepting foreign assistance/ hospitality. (h) Detail regarding the financial assistance provided by other funding agencies including the parent institution. IV. Envelop may be superscribed "Application for international Travel support". V. If approved, the department will initially issue a commitment letter agreeing to support. The amount will be reimbursed to the candidate only on his return to India after participation in the conference and fulfilling the terms and conditions. VI. The application for the financial assistance under the above scheme should be addressed to the Director, Science and Technology Department, Haryana, Bays No.35-38, Sector-2, Panchkula (Haryana) in the prescribed Performa. VII. OTHER CONDITIONS: (a) The excess amount, if any, occurring due to grant from the employer or other funding agency etc. will have to be returned to the DST, immediately. (b) If the paper is co-authored then no-objection certificate(s) from the author(s) who is (are) not going abroad has (have) to be enclosed with the application. (c) Proof of currency conversion during the period of attending the conference (d) Proof of lowest prevailing economy class air fare (e) Detail of benefit by attending the conference/seminar abroad.
