INTRODUCTION
The TrainNet Future project was approved under the “Food

Quality and Safety” thematic priority of the EU 6th Framework

Programme for Research and Technology Development (FP6),

with the overall objective to raise the quantity and quality of

research projects under the coordination or with participation of

researchers from the New Member States (NMS) and the

Candidate Countries (CC).
This brochure was prepared under the auspices of TrainNet

Future, in order to make visible and introduce the most important

food research institutions of the New Member States (Cyprus,

Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia,

Slovenia) and Candidate Countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey)

participating in the project. By providing the contact data of the

listed organizations our aim is to encourage the European partners

to begin or to enlarge their cooperation with these excellent

institutions, with the potential of valuable, innovative joint

research proposals for the EU 7th Framework Programme, thus

contributing to the completion of the European Research Area.
More details on the TrainNet Future project can be found on the

last pages of this brochure. Here you can also find the data of the

national contact points (in all 25 partner countries), who would be

glad to assist you in facilitating contacts and find the best partner

for you among the researchers of their country.
We hand over this booklet to you with the firm hope that our

efforts will widen your knowledge on the presented food research

institutions and will provide useful assistance to all researchers

and research institutions interested in finding contacts and

developing cooperation with similar partner institutions in other

countries, especially in the NMS and CC.

We do hope that the new contacts and the possible cooperations

established with the help of this brochure will contribute to the

achievement of our common goal: to find and ensure the most up-

to-date means and ways for safe and high-quality food supply.
