Why do I see dumpsters uncovered during the day? Is this legal?
Dumpsters are not required to be covered while construction crews are working at the sites. Dumpsters are required to be covered after 7:00pm. Should you see a dumpster uncovered after 7:00pm, you can report it to (609) 967-5922.
What is the fee for a dumpster street permit and how long can it be left in the street?
The fee for a dumpster street permit is $250.00. These permits can be obtained by the Borough Construction Office (609) 967-4220. Dumpsters are permitted to be left in the street until a Certificate of Occupancy is issued. A Certificate of Occupancy is issued after completion of a project. Are construction trailers permitted to be left in the street?
Yes - as long as the trailers are properly registered through the Division of Motor Vehicles. To report a violation, please contact the Avalon Police Department (609) 967-3411.
What are the hours during which construction is permitted to take place?
Construction is permitted from 7:00a.m till 7:00p.m seven days a week year long except between May 15th and September 15th in which construction is allowed to start 8:00am, Monday through Friday and 9:00am on Saturdays. No construction is permitted on Sundays between May 15th and September 15th.

Who do I contact to report excessive noise?
To report violations of Avalon Borough’s noise ordinance, you should contact the Avalon Police Department at (609) 967-3411.
What are the dates that vehicles are permitted on the beach for fishing?

What are the hours I can ride my bicycle on the boardwalk?
Bicycles are permitted on the boardwalk from 5:00a.m. - 10:00a.m. between May 15th to September 15th. There are no restrictions during the off season. For more information, contact the Avalon Police Department at (609) 967-3411.
Does Avalon Borough provide internet access?
Yes. You can access the internet using your own personal computer in the area of the Avalon Free Public Library. The Library also offers several computers with internet access. This is a free service provided by the Library. For more information, contact the Library at (609) 967-7155.
I would like to attend a council meeting. When are they held?
Council meetings are held on the 2nd, and 4th Wednesday of every month at Avalon Borough Hall starting at 7:00p.m. All are welcome to attend.
