What Will the World be Like in 2050?
Fifty young people met and discussed the question. Some of the answers were very interesting.
Some of the young people say that cities will be bigger but more beautiful, with lots of parks and trees. Some of them think that there will be fewer people in
Europe, so cities will be smaller. There will be more farms and they will grow food for the world and we will give, not sell, food to the poorer people.
Athletes will be stronger and faster in 2050- someone will run 1.500 meters in two and a half minutes. The world’s tallest man will be 2.90 meters tall. Most young people think that men will be between 1.75 and 2.00 meters tall in the year 2050. They also think that women will be as tall as men. Men and women will wear the same clothes but in different colours. No one will go to school. Students will learn at home with a computer. The computers will be connected to a computer in the teacher’s house. Each computer will have a two-way television screen so students can see and hear the teacher and the other students. The computers will also correct the homework for the students!
At weekends, people will go to the Moon and have a picnic there. Maybe they will go to a museum.
Museums will be more interesting because they will have things from other planets too. Tennis competitions on Venus, Mercury, and the Moon will be very popular. They will be very different because there is a different atmosphere on the planets. Back on Earth, people will sleep in anti-gravity beds.
Sweet dreams!
