Grammar: Cardinal and Ordinal Numbers



Cardinal Numbers:

1 - one 6 - six

2 - two 7 - seven

3 - three 8 - eight

4 - four 9 - nine

5 - five 10 - ten


1+1=2 one and one are two.

2+1=3 two and one are three.

3+2=5 three and two are five.
4-3=1 four minus three is one.

5-2=3 five minus two is three.

10-8=2 ten minus eight is two.
3 • 2=6 three times (by) two is six.

4 • 2=8 four times (by) two is eight.

2 • 5=10 two times (by) five is ten.

Exercise I. Answer the questions.

  2. How much is four times two?

  3. How much are seven and two?

  4. How much are six and four?

  5. How much are one and three?

  6. How much is seven minus three?

11 - eleven 20 - twenty

12 - twelve 30 - thirty

13 - thirteen 40 - forty

14 - fourteen 50 - fifty

15 - fifteen 60 - sixty

16 - sixteen 70 - seventy

17 - seventeen 80 - eighty

18 - eighteen 90 - ninety

19 - nineteen 100 - one hundred
11+1=12 eleven and one are twelve.

12+8=20 twelve and eight are twenty.

13+6=19 thirteen and six are nineteen.

30-20=10 thirty minus twenty is ten.

17-4=13 seventeen minus four is thirteen.

10•10=100 ten times ten is one hundred.

6 • 8=48 six times eight is forty- eight

100:2=50 one hundred divided by two is fifty.

10=10 ten is equal to ten (ten equals ten)

20<30 twenty (is) less than thirty

40> 15 forty (is) more than fifteen.
