At a Motel
"Good evening."
"Good evening. My wife and I would like a room, please.
“Do you have one available? We don't have a reservation."
"Let me see”. (The motel clerk looks through the list of rooms.)
Yes. We have one room left. You're lucky. It's the last one.
This is our busy season and we're usually full. This one became available because a customer called to cancel a reservation this morning."
"Good. We're tired after driving all day. And we're looking forward to relaxing in a comfortable room."
"This room has two double beds. It's number 25 at the rear of the motel. It's quite a comfortable room. And because it's at the rear, it's far from the noise of the highway."
"How much is it for one night? We only need it for tonight.
We're going to continue our trip in the morning."
"It's forty dollars a night for two. Is anyone else traveling with you?"
"No, it's just the two of us."
"The air-conditioning switch is on the right as you enter the room. Please turn the air conditioner off when you leave the room. It helps us to keep our electricity bills down."
"I noticed that you have a restaurant attached to the motel.
How late is it open?"
"Until eleven o'clock. You have plenty of time. Would you like to pay for the room in cash or by a credit card?"
"Credit card. We don't like to carry much cash with us on our trips."
(The customer hands the clerk his credit card. The clerk writes up the bill.)
"Please fill in this registration card. Here is your key.
You can park your car in front of your room. Check-out time is noon."
"I'm sure that we'll be on the road before then. Thank you very much."
"Thank you, sir. Enjoy your stay with us."
