Pablo Cirrone Laboratori Nazionali del Sud INFN, Catania I think that the constitution of an European Group devoted to the G4 application in Medical Physics is very important also in order to permit more dissemination of the code in the medical physicists community that is often very far from the computing tools. Our medical physicists, for example, very often have no idea how run a simulation and the only tool they are familiar with is (somethime!) EGS. EGS people I think was and are able to create a relative friendly product, simple to install and manage and with familiar outputs (ASCII file in most cases!!!). This is probably what medical physicist need. And also we must consider that a medical physic work in hospital and spend the major part of its time in the routine so he need a product as simple as possible from a technical point of view. Also I think some Institution like EFOMP or IAEA should be involved. We could share our experience and competence, above all in two fields: 1. Hadron therapy field: both with proton and carbon ion. You now we actually are the unique proton therapy faicity in Italy and we are moving toward the carbon ion therapy hoping to build a new cyclotron in the next years. 2. In the nuclear physics field: we are involved (among other experiments) in a specific experiment for the measurements of fragmentation product from 12C on different target (especially biological target) and for different energies. Actually we are acquiring data in our laboratory at 62AMeV and performing simulation (GEant4 and FLUKA) in order to test the better models. Anyway we could discuss this later. Another field in which we are involved (from the computing side) is the study of the RBE effects for proton and carbon beams used in hadrontherapy: these information are fundamentals for the development of analitycal treatment planning code as well as Monte Carlo based.
