The department did a lot of progress this year on both hiring and curriculum. The hiring committee was able to recommend several professorial rank candidates and we were successful in our recruitment this year. A new track of applied Math in the graduate program was approved by the department, FAS and is currently in the chain of approvals. Four new faculty members should be joining the department this year in an effort to cope with the increasing number of students. Moreover, more students are joining the applied Math program. The department in coordination with CAMS organized a conference in Algebra where several international and local speakers presented their latest research results. Moreover, other local and international speakers presented their research results in the departmental seminar series. The department of Mathematics will be following on the implementation of the learning outcomes through a committee.
