4 Uniformity One of the important opportunities that law reform would offer is the prospect that uniformstatutory reform could be introduced in all states and territories, by agreement of the Attorneys-General.144 Survivors should have the same rights and options regardless of the jurisdiction in which compensation is sought or in which abuse occurred. Statutory reforms to the common law of tort are, of course, constitutionally within the powers of state and territory Parliaments rather than the federal Parliament. However, it is to be hoped that there would be cooperation between all state and territory Attorneys-General in order to achieve a national uniform approach to these reforms.
